White Rock

I love a little outing on days off, I don’t mind what it is just as long as I get out of the house and my local area. On this day the rain was coming down so heavy in the morning, it really did look like it would be one long rainy day in the house – which I was especially sad about since it was the first proper day off Simon and I had had together since moving house a month ago! Don’t worry I didn’t let that weather get me down (actually I rather love rainy days), I made chocolate scrolls for breakfast and by the time we had munched our way through those and had a coffee we decided to brave the weather. Here I was all ready for grey weather (actually feeling kinda excited for it) and then the clouds go and roll away… whaaaat! So it was time to enjoy a few appearances from the sun at White Rock Beach.

Yeah ok it still doesn’t even come close to an Australian beach but it was a very lovely place.

The crazy Canadian kids were in swimmers building sandcastles, and there I was dressed as if fall was already here… yeah ok so maybe I’m kidding myself thinking that I have acclimatised already, but it was chilly, I promise!

Food… the best part about any day spent exploring a new area and when by the sea what better thing to have than Fish & Chips! The street that runs along the water has plenty of fish & chip places to choose from and whilst most look pretty good we picked Moby Dick and I think we picked well. I am sure this is the best fish & chips we have had since leaving Aus. The fish was yum (and not too much batter), the chips were great and the service in the place was fantastic, I would totally recommend this place to anyone in the area and as a bonus easting here is kind on the wallet too.

I am so glad we checked out White Rock and I think we will be back again on a warm sunny day when we can enjoy some of the tasty looking ice cream places.
