I love u-pick farms and lucky for me there are actually plenty of them around the Vancouver lower mainland area. It makes for a fun day out in the country, the farms usually sell delicious ice cream and other treats and you come home with more juicy berries than you know what to do with at an awesome price.
The last two years we have headed to Emma Lea Farms (check it out here) for both raspberries and blueberries, but we always seem to miss the strawberries. So this year when strawberry season arrived early we decided to check out Krause Berry Farms.
Of course it just had to be our luck that the day we picked was the first proper hot day of the year so far, even with my light cotton blouse and hat I was still sweltering, which meant an ice cream break was in order (maybe the sunshine was just a good excuse).
There is plenty to choose from at Krause Berry Farm; there is a bar (complete with saddled bar stools) where you can sample or purchase their own wines.
There is a shaded patio with live music, the cheese boards being delivered to most the tables looked amazing. There is a bakery, which sells an array of mouth watering pies, breads, doughnuts and fudges and also has a cute little store full of all those cottage style knick knacks that are fun to giggle at. And there is also a cafe with a porch if thats more what your after. So no lack of selection here, we went on a sunday and it was buzzing and full of people.
The prices are kind of high, but fair.
The one thing I didn’t like was being charged .25c for a cup of water… its hot and I needed hydration, I though of all places here would happily give you a cup of water from the tap
